Alice McCall Collaboration
This unit was a collaboration project. I chose to take the out-house route and source my own designer to collaborate with. I contacted Australian designer Alice McCall, as I felt her style echoed my own and knew that I would enjoy creating garments to fit in with her collections. I worked on this project reporting to Alice’s team in her London based showroom. My work for the project received high commendation from the Alice McCall design team.
The theme for this range is entitled, ‘Northern/Southern Hemisphere’, as the collection is to be delivered to both hemispheres at the same time, i.e. Australia in Summer while it’s Winter in the UK. To coincide with this theme the main idea for the collection is multifunctionality.
Most garments from the range can be adapted and worn in different ways or mix and matched to create lots of different looks. The collection consists of fabrics that are lightweight so they can be easily layered along with a trans-seasonal colour palette that would not look out of place whatever the weather.
This particular outfit reflects the theme of the collection as the pieces can be worn together or separately and can be layered up or taken off. The bandeau top attaches to the skirt to create a dress and the jacket buttons over the top to take you through all seasons and occasions.
